I will be joining the Milwaukee Laptop Orchestra (MiLO) in performing an improvised soundtrack to Walter Ruttman’s 1926 silent masterpiece, Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, Thursday, October 18, 2007, 7:00 PM, UWM Union Theatre, free admission.
A while back, I e-mailed Chris Schlarb some field recordings for his long-term project, and the result is Twilight & Ghost Stories, a new CD on Asthmatic Kitty Records. Chris wove a few of my recordings, along with contributions from dozens of others, into a dense sonic tapestry of musical snippets, found sounds, and haunting interludes. The CD will be officially released on December 4, 2007.
All floors of the Kenilworth Building will be open to showcase the wealth and variety of artistic activity going on in the Peck School of the Arts. Sound will be represented by solo sets, improvisational arrangements, live sound to silent film, and installations. Participants include Glenn Bach, John Kannenberg, MiLO (Milwaukee Laptop Orchestra), and others TBA. Kenilworth Square East, 1925 E Kenilworth Pl Milwaukee, WI 53202, Saturday, October 6, 2007, 12 noon to dusk.
